Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Jeff Bower
On the game:
“Tonight was about making big time plays - that’s what matters most. At the end of the game when we had to have a stop to get us back into it. James Posey staying on Rodney Stuckey in the stretch run helped. David West being as efficient as he could be with his defense and keeping pressure on everyone contributed to an outstanding victory for us in the end .”

“Tonight was a totally different experience particularly in the first half. We were clearly our own worst enemy. We had way too many turnovers and mistakes that we just shouldn’t have had. It was impossible to defend them based on how we were defending them. At halftime we talked about our offense and eliminating the turnovers so our defense would gather steam. It seemed to work.”

Hornets Forward David West
On the play of the team late in the game:
“We just wanted to get better possessions. I thought we were just a little over-anxious. We weren’t taking care of the ball. They were scoring every time that we turned the ball over. It’s just a matter of us coming out and being a little bit more confident in what we’re trying to do on offense. It turned the game around for us.”

On the play of the defense in the second half:
“We just tried to make sure that everything they did was contested. (Rodney) Stuckey got going early. We just wanted to make sure that we limited him some in the second half. He’s a good player. We were able to do what we needed to do to get a win.”

Hornets Guard Chris Paul
On the fourth quarter:
“We picked up the intensity. We got after them a little bit. We rebounded the ball better and we got out in transition. That’s when we’re at our best. D (David) West got us going. Peja hit a few big shots. We pulled out the win. We just picked up the intensity (in the second half). We’ve been a great second half team so far this year.”

Pistons Post Game Quotes

Head Coach John Kuester
On the game:
“They were the aggressors in the first half and in the second we got away from some of the things we were doing in the first half. Charlie had a great run in the first half and couldn’t tough a thing in the second half. This was one of those games where you look back and say, ‘God, we played well in the first half, and the second half we didn’t do so well.’”

On Rodney Stuckey:
"I always think Rodney is going to be aggressive I always put him in a position to be aggressive. He battled extremely hard and took jump shots and has made and has been very successful at. So Rodney gave us some huge plays tonight."

On David West:
"He is a very dangerous offensive player. He is someone very capable of putting up big numbers and that is what he did tonight."

Pistons Guard/Forward Austin Daye
On the 2nd Quarter:
“We were just coasting, playing really good basketball, moving the ball really well. That gave us a good lead, but we weren’t able to finish it off in the 2nd half.”

On the Hornets aggression:
“I don’t think it was them being aggressive, I don’t think we moved the ball as well as we did in the first half. We tried to press on defense and try to get the ball out of CP3’s hands but did not do a good job of that.”

Pistons Forward Charlie Villanueva
On the game:
“It’s very frustrating, we came out as a very aggressive team, we got stops we moved the ball, guys made nice baskets. We played like a team that first half; the second half we gave them a little bit of breathing room and we just collapsed offensively”
