Trailing 47-41 at halftime, the Toros used a 27-11 scoring advantage in the third quarter to surge ahead. The defeat was the first for the 66ers on the young season. The two teams will face again tomorrow night when they travel to Tulsa for the 66ers 2011-12 home opener.
Tulsa’s Sumpter posted his first double-double of the 2011-12 campaign with 13 points and 11 rebounds Friday night, both season highs for the forward. Reid pitched in his second double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.
Also leading the 66ers off the bench was Xavier Alexander with a season-high 12 points.
Leading the Toros was Lance Thomas with a game-high 24 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Justin Dentmon pitched in 18 points.
The game between the two teams Saturday night, Dec. 3, is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
