RYAN REID MAKES OKLAHOMA CITY OPENING NIGHT ROSTER

TULSA, Okla.— Ryan Reid, who began the 2011-12 NBA D-League season with the Tulsa 66ers, has earned a spot on the Oklahoma City Thunder’s opening night roster.

Reid played in eight games (all starts) in Tulsa and was averaging 11.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists before accepting an invitation to participate in Thunder training camp.

Last season the forward also suited up for the 66ers and averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 48 games (33 starts).

The Florida State product was one of four 66ers to be invited to NBA training camps in December. Dwight Buycks (Phoenix), Jerome Dyson (New Orleans) and Marcus Lewis (Milwaukee) were also invited.

An all-time high 88 players with NBA Development League experience highlighted 2011-12 NBA opening day rosters. That number of former NBA D-Leaguers on NBA opening day rosters surpassed the previous highs of 63 the previous two seasons.

In five years, the number of former NBA D-League players on NBA start-of-season rosters has more than doubled, going from 35 on opening day in 2006-07 to 88 this year.

Twenty-nine of 30 NBA teams featured at least one player with NBA D-League experience, while the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets each had six former NBA D-Leaguers on their respective rosters.

Of the 88 former NBA D-League players in the NBA, eleven are earning Gatorade Call-Ups, having played in the NBA D-League earlier this season. They are:
