Part-time and Full-time EMPLOYMENT

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

This internship experience is a great opportunity for those individuals to experience firsthand how a professional sports team is organized and managed. They will gain experience in all aspects of the organization and this will provide them with the skills necessary to succeed in future careers.

All interested individuals must be motivated, creative, organized, team oriented, responsible, and have excellent communication and computer skills. Must be at least 18 years old and willing to work non-traditional business hours, including weekends and holidays.



IN-SEASON INTERNSHIP INFORMATION

SALES AND MARKETING
Responsibilities will include involvement in the administration and implementation of current sales programs, assisting in the research and development of new sales campaigns, database maintenance, monitoring and tracking of promotions as developed, and involvement in planning of game operations functions for the upcoming season. Individuals with creative minds and strong computer skills will be considered. The person is required to work approximately 15 hours per week (this will vary depending on our game schedule).


GRAPHIC DESIGN/MARKETING
Responsibilities will include creation of various marketing materials, including, but not limited to: entrance/exit marketing; group flyers; promotional flyers; event and game-specific advertisements; website media; etc. You will also assist in planning and creation of various elements used during Energy games; build and maintain photo galleries; assisting in the research and development of new sales campaigns; maintain various databases; monitor and tracking of promotions as developed. Individuals with creative minds and strong computer skills will be considered. The person is required to work approximately 15 hours per week (this will vary depending on our game schedule). We prefer, but do not require, that this person have their own computer and associated design programs to use to accomplish the assigned projects.


PUBLIC/MEDIA RELATIONS
Some of the PR/Media responsibilities of this individual will include securing speaking engagements for Iowa Energy Coaches and Staff, writing articles for website, writing game recaps and working with local and national media contacts, as well as helping create the PR and Marketing Plan for the 2008-09 season. These individuals must possess an in-depth knowledge of Basketball and have strong writing skills. Public Relations, Communications or Sports Management majors are preferred, but not required. The person is required to work approximately 15 hours per week (this will vary depending on our game schedule).


COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Responsibilities include the administration of the mascot program (also must be willing the serve as mascot when needed), servicing the team’s donation requests, and assisting with the organization of all team-based community programs and initiatives. This individual must be a personable, creative, and dynamic person. Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Sports Management majors are preferred, but not required. The person is required to work approximately 15 hours per week (this will vary depending on our game schedule).


GAME OPERATIONS (very limited availability)
Responsibilities include the administration of all game-day related events, preparations, entertainment, and so on. Primary responsibilities will include coordinating and managing all events during each respective Energy home-game, including, but not limited to, National Anthem Singers, pre-game speakers, halftime entertainers, dance teams, mascot, promotional events, etc. This individual must be a personable, creative, and dynamic person. Marketing or Sports Management majors are preferred, but not required. The person is required to work approximately 15 hours per week (this will vary depending on our game schedule).


MEDIA PRODUCTION
Responsibilities include creating video production pieces for home Iowa Energy games in Wells Fargo Arena, as well as working creatively on interface design/development for various projects, updating existing web sites with new information and other duties as assigned. This individual must have strong design and production experience, strong computer skills, a good sense of composition, creativity and attention to detail, and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects. Video and multimedia experience, as well as web design and an interest in sports are a plus. The ideal candidate will have a background in video production, graphic design and a working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, HTML, etc.


All Iowa Energy internship positions will have responsibilities in the Marketing/Sales/Community Relations/Game Operations departments, in addition to their primary responsibilities.

    SUMMER INTERNSHIP INFORMATION

    MARKETING & PROMOTIONS
    Responsibilities will include researching and implementing various activities and events related to increasing brand awareness and recognition of the Iowa Energy. These events will largely be charity and community based outings and appearances. Other duties will include: database building and maintenance; tracking of various promotions; ticket sales; lead generation; etc. These positions will require approximately 5-15 hours per week, depending on scheduled events (this is largely an "on-call" type of position, where we schedule our interns to assist with various community events and appearances, serve as our mascot, etc).
