Report: Kings, Hayes agree on 4-year deal

Posted Dec 10 2011 2:36AM

A person familiar with the decision says the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a $21.3 million, four-year deal with free agent center Chuck Hayes.

The agreement Friday came on the first day players are officially allowed to sign contracts and most teams opened training camp. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal hadn't been officially completed.

Hayes spent his first six seasons with the Houston Rockets, playing mostly in a reserve role. He is averaging 3.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 17 minutes per game over his career.

Hayes attended high school in nearby Modesto, Calif. He has played power forward and center in the NBA.

Sacramento will begin training camp Saturday. The deal was first reported by Yahoo Sports.
